[info]thistlerose wrote me fic! It's adorable and hilarious and super sweet. <333.

To Jim's dismay, there's still no cure for the common cold. Fortunately, he's got an indulgent CMO.

Now, if I could just get over this cold, I'd be all set. :)

While we're talking about how productive I've been lately... here, have another ficlet.

1st-Jul-2009 10:37 am - June writing roundup
writing
Holy COW I wrote a lot in the month of June. SERIOUSLY. I know my word counts are very low compared to some people, but for me this has been fantastic. Just for comparison, from January through May (5 months), I made 14 posts tagged 'fic', comprising about 19,400 words. Which is already pretty productive for me.

During June alone, I made 8 posts tagged 'fic', comprising 16,600 words. I've already written more in 2009 than I did in all of 2007.

So, a roundup...

Five Times the Crew of the Enterprise Could've Followed Protocol ...and Ensured the Destruction of Earth
Star Trek, gen. Gaila, McCoy, Uhura, Chekov, Spock. 800 words.

Sooner or Later - Jim Kirk can wait for a good thing, if he has to.
Star Trek. Kirk/McCoy. 5,200 words.

Stay - for the [info]hpgw100 prompt "change"
HP. Harry/Ginny. 100 words.

Promotion - for [info]yahtzee63's drabble challenge.
Star Trek. Kirk/Gaila. 620 words.

Cinderella Before Midnight - A ball is held in Harry's honor. But who will be his leading lady? - for the [info]hg_silverlining challenge.
HP. Harry/Ginny. 5,600 words.

Practical - for the [info]where_no_woman drabble challenge.
Star Trek, gen. Christine Chapel. 750 words.

Acts of Faith - This -- keeping his feelings to himself, which is where they belong -- would be a lot easier if Jim weren't so fucking smart.
Star Trek. Kirk/McCoy. 2900 words.

Test Results - "I've seen your test results," he says. "I've read your file."
Star Trek, gen. Jim Kirk. 633 words.

You don't look at him. There's a salt shaker on the table that's shaped like a starship, and you pick it up. )

Title: Acts of Faith
Author: r_becca
Fandom: Star Trek xi
Pairing: Kirk/McCoy
Length: ~2900 words
Rating: Adult
Warnings: none

Summary: This -- keeping his feelings to himself, which is where they belong -- would be a lot easier if Jim weren't so fucking smart.
Notes: Inspired in part by this fanvid by [info]collswan, [info]jedibuttercup's theories on Kirk's emotional instinctiveness, Karl Urban's hotness and Starbucks Coffee's fine product line. Thanks also to [info]thistlerose, [info]florahart and [info]jumperkid for assistance, encouragement and general awesomeness.
Challenge: this is for my cliche bingo card, prompt: yearning.

'Be careful out there,' McCoy says as Jim heads toward the transporter room at a dead run... )

23rd-Jun-2009 08:58 pm - Cliche bingo card
writing
OK, I signed up for [info]cliche_bingo. I couldn't help myself!!

And lucky me, the Fest Powers smiled on me and gave me a completely awesome card -- I think I could actually write every one of these if I had enough time! Which I probably don't, as the deadline for writing the fics is the end of August, and I don't know that I could write 25 stories in that time. ;) But I can sure have fun trying!

(requirements are: 1 story per square, a minimum of 500 words, any mix of genres/pairings/fandoms ok. The center square can be anything off this list)

My original card is here, but here it is coded as a table, so that I can edit in links as the stories are completed. Yep, that's how I roll. :D

BiNGO
1. pretending to be married aphrodisiacs zombies vulnerability vacations & holidays
2. hallucinations/ visions genderswap bad sex wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey: time travel physical imperfections
3. sensory deprivation second person narration fusion with another fandom day in the life
4. androids & robots canon au voyeurism telepathy rare pairings
5. episode tags and missing scenes it's the end of the world as we know it: apocafic exile there's a first time for everything: first times if only you'd notice me: yearning and obliviousness

Title: Cinderella Before Midnight
Author: [info]r_becca
Pairing: Harry/Ginny eventually, with Harry/others along the way.
Rating: NC-17
Length: 5,600 words
Summary: A ball is held in Harry's honor. But who will be his leading lady?
Author's Note: Written for a challenge at [info]hg_silverlining, and dedicated to [info]stmargarets, who is at least twelve kinds of awesome. Possibly fourteen. Many thanks to [info]lyras for beta-reading.

'Erm,' Harry said, looking up at the sign above the wide double doors that formed the entryway to the ballroom. 'This might be a bit weird.'
22nd-Jun-2009 09:54 am - beta pimpage and fest conclusion
Harry and Ginny
The final part of the final story in the first [info]takingitinturns exchange is now up! That means... the exchange is finally done! The story, "Pain, Pieces, Promises," is by a brand-new author, and could really use some love. I beta-read the story for [info]pluschi and I think she has a great take on Harry and Ginny, with some really unique twists and turns. :)

"Pain, Pieces, Promises" by [info]pluschi: 1: Pain | 2: Pieces | 3: Promises
In which Harry must find a way to open up and show Ginny what he's feeling, or risk losing her forever.

While I'm beta-pimping, here's an awesome Faith/Dean ficlet that I beta-read a loong time ago and am thrilled to see posted:
That Short Forever by [info]mara_sho
In which Faith removes a bullet from Dean. need I say more??

Anyway, I'm glad to put this round of [info]takingitinturns to bed... it's been more than 4 months since signups started, after all. Oy. But I've added a note to the comm's userinfo page (and I'll make an announcement on the comm itself at some point) that the next round will open in February. I'm already getting excited about it. :)
